Popular Maryland rapper Goonew, known for his distinct whispers and frequent collaborations with Lil Dude, passed away last month after being shot by a rival.
His funeral was held this weekend – and MTO News learned that his family and friends sent off the rapper unlike anything we’ve seen before.
First, his family rented one of the city’s most popular clubs – and held a memorial service inside while playing the rapper’s music.
Then they actually embalmed the rapper’s body on stage – and dressed in his best clothes, MTO News has learned.

The service is undeniably unique and one to remember for all in attendance. Born as Markelle Antonio Morrow, rapper Goonew died at Prince County George’s Hospital after battling gunshot wounds. He is 24 years old.
