‘The Great British Baking Show’ Recap

Like Great British Baking Show By the final weeks of the season, the competition is heating up, meaning there’s no room for sloppy cakes or dull flavors. One of our favorite contestants skated, stayed on the show because of his good attitude and, creation cake. In the most recent episode, the contestants were rated the lowest of the best. And this baker, unfortunately, was sent home.

(Warning: Spoilers ahead for the most recent episode of Great British Baking Show.)

Our beloved Kevin was eliminated in this week’s episode. Honestly, while we love his goofy cakes, this is far from coming. Kevin is sweet, funny, and kind, but he has a tendency to think the worst ideas like never before, including dog poop, a chubby little spider and too much custard.

Again, he’s not one of the worst bakers! Kevin just has a penchant for ideas that are too complicated and end up looking rather sloppy. The English music teacher started with laughter: first performer called “Ba-Na-Na, It’s My Hame,” a Minions approach to Rihanna’s classic tune “What’s My Name?” And then we Baking demonstration the hardliners knew that Kevin was going to deliver some real Hall of Fame pie.

He continues to provide us with a variety of music-inspired cakes such as “Please Bring Us Some Figgy Pizza” and “Sweet Breads Are Made of This” borracitos. If there was a contest for the best scone — and I like to think there’s a behind-the-scenes contest — Kevin would take the cake.

But in the last three episodes of GBBS, Kevin delivered consecutive performances that sent shivers down our spines. The one-two-three success begins with “What the Dog Dug,” an ode to… dogs that dig up trash, dirt, and poop. He didn’t explicitly state this when he baked dog treats, but that’s what I imagined when he dipped grass and dirt in his cake. Kindness, Kevin. Indeed, a great job.

Last week, for Halloween, Kevin came up with “Arachna-FOMO,” a great spider-man idea that was unfortunately overshadowed by Syabira’s monstrous horror crawler. Side by side, no competition — Syabira wins, kills and Kevin should have gone home.

However, he stayed for another week, and thank goodness. Even though he had a delightful meringue pie in the store for the salesman to show off, Kevin’s custard was so wobbly that he couldn’t really decorate it! He had to call for help from a trio of other bakers to keep the cake steady as he threw the meringue and pipe on top.

All of this said, Kevin is a baker in good spirits and a pleasure to watch. His cake is usually taste awesome, they’re just too advanced a concept to complete in a short amount of time. He’s going to be one of the funniest, most beloved bakers of all time. We love you, Kevin!

While it would be interesting to see three more episodes full of Kevin’s little beauties, it’s time for the powerhouse cake makers to take over. Maxy, Syabira, SandroJanusz and Abdul ordered some of the best cakes in GBBS history. To be honest, entering the final batch of episodes, I don’t know who will go home next and who will be the winner. What a great final year!
