The shoe looks like it’s hit Earth from space for the first time. It feels more like a performance Nike than something from the more comfortable Converse — but that’s the point. As a designer, Ross always brings an artistic forward-thinking vibe to his work, which is exactly what he’s done here. (Also reiterate that Converse is owned by Nike.) It’s a futuristic strapless high heel shoe with an incredible sole made from super-fine foam. The sneaker has a runway quality to it, from its avant-garde silhouette to stylish leather and suede accents. The first colorway (“Micro Chip and Healing Jade”) will drop on April 12th and a second (“Black and Apple Green”) will be released in May.

The tuber shape, amorphous silhouette of sneakers has been increased. Think Pyer Moss Sculpt sneakers, newly introduced model Balenciaga defenderand unreleased zipper by Kanye West sport shoes. You can officially add the Converse Aeon Active CX to the list. Ross severed his teeth at Off-White and Yeezy, and you can feel the convention-breaking properties of Virgil Abloh and West stuck. (More directly, the colors seem very soothing to Air Yeezy 2, while the typeface on the side gives it an Abloh-esque feel.) With A Cold Wall, Ross is known for high concept designs with a distinct perspective, and he brought that into this collaboration. . In other words, this Converse definitely can’t be confused with Chuck Taylor.
