The Lord of the Rings trilogy returns to Netflix next month
What is and isn’t on Netflix at any given time can be difficult to determine. The Lord of the Rings trilogy hasn’t been available on the popular streaming service for several years now, but rejoice, Netflix subscribers, for the imminent return of the king.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy, which includes The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King, will return to Netflix on February 1, the streaming service announced on Twitter today.

However, all three movies have been available on Netflix at various times. never reported at the same time. The movies have been discontinued entirely as of March 2020—just months before they appeared on the new HBO Max streaming service at the time. The Lord of the Rings distributor New Line Cinema is a Warner Bros. Discovery, so it makes sense that they want one of their biggest series on the service to come out.
There is no word yet on whether Netflix will only host the standard versions of the movies or even the extended versions. HBO Max is available in both versions now. The Lord of the Rings show 2022, Ring of Powermeanwhile, is produced by Amazon and is a Prime Video exclusive.
