Christian B, now serving time in prison in Germany for rape, has always denied any involvement in Madeleine’s abduction.
In May, German detectives investigating the 2007 disappearance in Portugal of a three-year-old boy confirmed they had unearthed important clues.
They linked Madeleine to a passenger van driven by Christian B because Wolters said it was possible the suspect “bought” Madeleine from an accomplice who had stolen her from the Praia da Luz apartment.
He said at the time: “We are sure he is the killer. “There’s no one else.”
And now the convict has rebutted the charges, in a handwritten letter, seen by the Mirror, comparing the prosecutor to Adolf Hitler.
He wrote: “I wonder why people are still asking where I am on May 3, 2007.
“It is not up to me to give evidence. Asking the prosecutor in a way is overkill as it happened to me.
“Ask him why he is destroying a human’s life by lying in public in 2020.
“I can’t ask him. He just talked to me using the media. “
He continued: “I cannot give any answers as to why a German prosecutor would have acted like that in the McCann case.
“The only answer I have found for myself is that Hitler is still everywhere. The prosecutor has been seeding for two years now and he knows that there can be no return.”
Christian B accuses authorities of trying to convict him of other crimes allegedly committed in Portugal when prosecutors are expected to charge him with raping a tour agent Ireland travel, Hazel Behan.
But last month, authorities could not charge him with rape after Hazel told police her perpetrator had a large cross-shaped scar on his right thigh.
He continued: “The whole world is watching him. To cover up the blame, he started more and more questions against me, all many years ago and far from Germany.
“Witnesses are having bad memories and they are very easily influenced.
“I have spent the last few days reading the files – 5,500 pages without any evidence not even a single bike being stolen. No. I knew it was going to end like this.”
The suspect also complained about living conditions in Oldenburg prison in Germany, saying that he “couldn’t even buy a pen” and that he had spent more than four months in isolation “locked up for 24 hours with no TELEVISION”.
He had said in an earlier letter: “I don’t kidnap anyone and of course I don’t kill anyone.”
The prosecutor previously declined to comment on the letters.
Christian B was officially a suspect in April, nearly 15 years after Maddie went missing.
Although the Met Police have decided to wrap up the investigation, police in Portugal have said they will continue to investigate with sources claiming authorities said they were giving up looking at their case. is “completely unfounded”.
Christian B was jailed in Germany for raping an American pensioner in Praia in 2005, two years before Madeleine went missing.
He is said to have been denied pardon after serving half of his sentence.
He has denied any involvement and claims he was miles away to have sex with a woman in his camping van at the time Madeleine disappeared.
However, a televised investigation revealed that Christian B had a face-changing operation four months after Maddie disappeared.
