The Ministers perform Yoga at the Red Fort
Speaking before the gathering, Om Birla outlined the importance of Yoga and said: “Yoga is a symbol of India’s rich cultural heritage.”
He greeted everyone on World Health Day and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing yoga to the world.
“Today is World Health Day. Yoga is a practice that brings harmony between body and mind. It gives us physical strength and provides mental balance and emotional stability. to successfully meet the challenges of modern life. We organized this event to mark the 75 Days Countdown to International Yoga Day,” said Sarbananda Sonowal.
He said the Ayush Department has planned to perform Yoga at 75 prominent branded heritage sites of India and also plans to energize International Yoga Day programs around the world with the movement of the Sun. He said this was related to Prime Minister Narendra Modiji’s ‘One Sun, One Earth’ campaign.
Yoga Gurus such as Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswati, president, Parmarth Niketan and Bhikkhu Niketsena, founder, Mahabodhi International Meditation Center, Leh-Ladhkh also shared their insights during the live programme.
Following the keynotes, a live demonstration of the popular yoga practice was conducted by experts of the Morarji Desai National Yoga Institute under the chairmanship of Dr. Ishwar V. Basavaraddi, MDNIY Director. Around 3,000 Sadhaks Yoga have practiced popular yoga procedures.
