The more affordable Polestar 2 has sold the Tesla Model 3 cheap, at $47,200 for the US
The new one 270 miles single engine version Polestar 2 will start at $47,200 (including destination) in the United States, Polestar confirmed Thursday.
That base price is lower than the Tesla Model 3, which currently starts at $48,190 for the base version with a 272-mile range. Considering that Polestar is eligible for the $7,500 federal EV tax credit and Tesla is not, the actual price difference could be even larger for some customers.
In states with high incentives – like New Jersey – a single-engine Polestar 2 can cost “under $35,000,” Gregor Hembrough, Polestar North America head, said in a statement.

However, the Model 3 has the edge in terms of performance. Tesla claims the base Model 3 can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 5.8 seconds, compared to 7.0 seconds for the single-engine Polestar 2.
Both single- and dual-engine versions of the Polestar 2 are available with two options packages. Plus Package ($4,000) added heat pump allows for up to 270 miles of range, along with a panoramic glass roof, a 13-speaker Harman Kardon sound system and WeaveTech vegan upholstery.
The Pilot Package ($3,200) adds driver-assist features like adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and Volvo parent Polestar’s Pilot Assist system.
2022 Polestar 2 single engine
In one first time driving We found the build quality to be top-notch and the look and feel, even if it lacked the performance of the dual-engine models, which also get some revisions for the 2022 model year. The dual-engine version is faster but only has an EPA-rated 249-mile range.
Either way, we found the Polestar 2 drive to feel like a traditional drive European performance car. While, customer experience is direct, like Tesla’s, but with some of the advantages of a long-standing dealer network thrown in.
