“Too many people,” my taxi driver told me on the way to the airport this morning. He told me there weren’t enough taxis or hotel rooms for the number of followers who flocked to Geneva to see the Watches & Wonders. Apparently, the European Business Airshow & Conference, when people come to buy jets, creates the same problem. Geneva is hilarious.

Another year of Watches & Wonders has come and gone for me. The world of collectibles has grown exponentially over the past few years and if you look closely, you can see the industry is opening up to these new hobbyists. Rolex is making jigsaw dials with 31 emojis, Tag Heuer has introduced a vintage chronograph as well as a neon pink Carrera, and even Paneria is miniaturizing its signature massive timepieces. me. Almost every brand has something ridiculous to show off. There are pocket watches in both Cartier and Hermes. The former is covered with diamonds and the latter is strung with real horsehair. Who are these watches for? With so many more collectors, maybe someone!

Some final stray thoughts from me. Suddenly, vintage-inspired 36- (or 36.5) millimeter watches are everywhere. Honestly, it really is the perfect size for a watch. Speaking of trends, I’ve seen more sneakers this year than last year. Common Projects and Adidas Stan Smiths are ubiquitous but also Nike Panda Dunks and obnoxious Tiffany Air Force 1s. Lange’s stall has produced some of the best drinks to date—freshly squeezed orange juice and mint-infused sparkling water, wow. The most popular dishes in Palexpo? Believe it or not, a poke bowl you need to order soon before it runs out. I refused to eat raw fish in the usual hall, but there is always the following year. Thanks for watching.

The best watch I tried today: What is the German word for “exceeding expectations”? What do you think about Chronograph A. Lange & Söhne Odysseus? The German brand’s watch, one of the most talked about products at the fair, is all it reveals. Lange just show this one watches, (Cartier, for comparison, showcased 17 new watches in the Tank line alone).
