The Murfreesboro team lights up the server’s Christmas | News

MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) – A Murfreesboro family has started a movement that is spreading across the country. They created a Facebook page called Tipping in the Boro. It is exclusively for servers that collect hundreds of dollars.

Tyler, author of Tipping in the Boro, said this act of kindness began to help food industry workers in Murfreesboro during the start of the pandemic. Their Facebook page now has thousands of followers, and the community is joining in to continue the goodwill.

Their goal is to surprise 12 servers before Christmas. So far, they’ve come up with more than six host tips for $300 or more.

Tyler and his wife recorded the servers’ responses and posted the video on Tipping in the Boro’s Facebook page so community members could see who their donations were helping.

“Here’s $340 for you,” Tyler said as he handed the cash to Callie, who served a Cracker Barrel.

“Thanks a lot! I’m in college,” Callie said as she wiped her tears. “I don’t have money. I have to get an apartment soon. So thank you guys so much this really helped a lot. much for you.”

For some hosts like Mariah, this extra money has been life changing.

“I just went to an apartment meeting because I live in a shelter,” said Mariah, an Applebee service worker. “And so I just went to an apartment meeting today, and I had to have $600 on Monday so you only gave me half of it. Thank you very much. I don’t know how to get that money. She was then given an extra $300 so she could move into her own apartment. You are kidding me. I don’t even know if I can take on this.”

The creator of Tipping in the Boro said he had no idea Mariah had recently dropped out of an abusive relationship. She and her 2-year-old son are living in a shelter.

“When we gave her the first $300 and she told us a story, it really blew my mind,” Tyler said. “So we gave her another $300 to go to her apartment and get out of her way.”

Since Mariah’s story went viral on Tik Tok, people have reached out to Tipping on Boro’s social media site, asking for help starting a similar movement in communities around the country.
