The new Lucid accessories are designed to be as smooth as the Air

Lucid The final engine is ready with branded accessories. The California electric vehicle manufacturer tapped together with the members who designed it Air to work in the first four after-sales optionally, maintaining a consistent aesthetic with the six-figure electric sedan. Perhaps the most welcome item for owners will be the $1,200 Connected Home Charging Station. The small, sleek, Wi-Fi-enabled black box maximizes Level 2 AC charging, supports the 19.2 kW charging that the Air is capable of, and offers 80-mile range into the battery packed every hour. It’s also bidirectional, able to feed juice back into the home energy storage system via a “lightweight” 24-foot cable. The station doubles the charging power of the portable charging cable that all Air devices come with, reaching 9.6 kW and performing well for a range of 40 miles for every hour it’s plugged in.

It is not cheap, but this is the price of a luxury item for a luxury vehicleand it’s still less Ford’s Charge Station Pro retails for $1,310. Tesla’s recently reworked its charging options, offering a third-generation Wall Connector for $400. That charger is compatible with almost all EVs, but it comes in at 11.5 kW, down from the 19.2 kW capability of the second-generation charger.

The rest of the accessories fit into the “active lifestyle” that automakers consistently see as the ideal demographic. The $500 black aluminum crossbars hook cleanly into slots in the roof. They can support 165 pounds, are said to have “minimum impact on aerodynamics,” and work with some standard Yakima stands to hold outdoor gear. The Goods The Capsule is made to sit on these slats, adding 11.47 cubic feet of storage space to the Air’s already massive 32.5-foot interior load compartment with the second row of seats raised. However, it is a pity that wind and other elements will affect the Capsule; The glossy finish and matte black finish on the ABS housing are real. The cover can be opened from either side of the vehicle and is equipped with interior lighting to prevent rummaging in the dark. We still don’t know why the Capsule costs $2,000, but we’d love to find out.

Finally, a $250 set of all-weather mats will help keep the Earth outside the car instead of being part of the Air’s floor mats. Heavy-duty, non-slip, waterproof, with raised edges to prevent dirt from spilling, they’re shaded to match Air’s interior options in Ceramic, Graphite, Saddle colors and Black.

Honestly, the last three bits of gear are like preparation for SUV Lucid Gravity is supposed to launch next year, though press photos for the Gravity feature a slimmer roof box than the Air unit.

Accessories can be ordered now at Lucid’s store, deliveries are expected to begin before the end of the year. The home charging station is the only restricted item, selling in limited quantities until 2023.
