The producer said the Flash movie was never in danger of being shelved because of Ezra Miller’s behavior

People don’t simply shelve a movie with a $220 million budget—even when the star is garnering inadequate public attention. Despite the rumors, The Flash will never be treated like Batgirl, according to producer (and sister of Andy Muchietti director), Barbara Muchietti, in an interview with Weekly entertainment.

In August 2022, Warner Bros. Discovery was still a newly incorporated organization, and executives were making many decisions about current and future content on the Max platform, then still known as HBO Max. The two events took place very close to each other; studio suddenly boxed Batgirl although it’s finished filming and features a fan-favorite cast that includes Brendan Frasier and Michael Keaton. At the same time, Ezra Miller’s ongoing legal troubles hit. blabbing about Miller’s superhero movie being shelved started circulating even though Miller entered the treatment.

Asked directly if there was a “legitimate fear of the movie being cancelled,” Manyietti said, “Not at all. No. That was never real.”

Miller was arrested multiple times in Hawaii in April 2022, including for allegedly luring a minor (whom this individual, now an adult, say it’s wrong). They have also pleaded guilty to trespassing in Vermont, and appear to have strangled a woman at an Iceland bar in a video that caused a stir online. The Manyietti brothers and the boss of DC Studios have speak out in support of Miller’s recovery in the months since.
