Looks like Trey Parker and Matt Stone aren’t buying into the non-fungible token (NFT) craze and skewing the space in South Park: Post COVID: Return of COVID – the second of the duo’s 14 television series exclusively for Paramount+.
Debuting on the streamer on Thursday, the second half of the first hour-long series leaves viewers with a more optimistic sense of the future. first half, South Park: Post COVID falls on Thanksgiving, paints a bleak picture.
South Park: Post COVID: Return of COVID have great character callbacks and shoot more scenes (no puns) with vaxx antagonists (“You have to be strong and keep your faith – even if that means other people will die”), but the series took a hit following the NFT craze through Victor Chaos.
As most fans assume, Chaos is Butters, who as an adult was a recalcitrant salesman who made billions of dollars by persuading anyone he came in contact with to invest in NFT like a bull. The best way to get rich quick. (“It’s gone: my savings, my house. But I have this little green panda on my skateboard,” said one of Butters’ victims.)
Stan and Kyle needed Butters’ help, and of course he tried to get them to invest in NFT, pitching, “If you just believe in the NFT, then I believe in the NFT, then they believe in the NFT, then they believe in the NFT. NFT, and we make all the damn money! ”
In other, non-NFT jokes, South Park: Post COVID: Return of COVID great feature nod Blade Runner, including a hilarious moment with Randy in the rain. Parker and Stone also took a few more photos at Space Jam 2, with LeBron James even appearing amid the mockery.
In August, South Park The creators have created a new superstore with Paramount+’s parent ViacomCBS and Comedy Central that runs through 2027 and includes 14 Paramount+ projects along with renewed flagship series through season 30. Comedy Central will return in early 2022.
