The tabletop Dark Souls RPG is rife with problems, according to early players

Dark Souls: Role Playing Game, a new tabletop RPG designed and published by Steamforged Games, hasn’t even launched in the US yet and it’s been flooded with criticism. The collector’s edition rule was released late last month in Europe and the UK, and players found a lot of bugs – everything from basic typos to bigger problems, breaking more than many games. These problems were first reported by Dice cutter.

Players on Reddit are pointing out all sorts of things great contradiction with set of rules, based on an open source version of Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition. For example, some classes like Knight don’t have enough level one strength to wear their own starter armor, while Caster’s starting stats won’t allow it to use one of the weapons recommended for them. Meanwhile, no one is even completely sure how death To be to work.

In a statement to Polygon, developers Steamforged said that they don’t feel these issues will affect the game’s playability, but that they are taking feedback “seriously:”

While some of these copies have already gone to those who pre-ordered the collector’s edition in Europe, the rule book won’t be released in the US until May 16, which means causing players to ask some questions about what could be changed before that.

This isn’t Steamforged games’ first attempt at bringing a popular video game title to a table audience.
