Cadillac’s slow rollout of electric vehicles seems to be a harbinger of an impending flood.
On Wednesday, during a press conference, Cadillac Global Vice President Ron Harvey confirmed the luxury carmaker will launch three new EVs in 2023.
Harvey said all three electric vehicles will go into production by 2024, but things get complicated from there.
Some undisclosed electric vehicles will be global vehicles sold in multiple markets. This will result in them being manufactured at multiple plants in different regions with staggered rollouts for different markets.
Harvey wouldn’t comment on the type of vehicle these new EVs take in regards to body styling or any other details.
General Motors has trademarked future nameplates in line with Cadillac’s iq naming strategy, including Ascendiq, Optiq and Symboliqwith Vistiq, Lumistiq and Escalade IQL.
In 2020, GM launched its EV plan. The Roadmap for Cadillac include Lyriq And flagship Celestiqalong with an SUV similar to the XT4, a “global-sized” three-row SUV and an Escalade-inspired full-size SUV.

Harvey wouldn’t comment on Lyriq’s slow ramp, but said the aim was to spot problems early in production.
The CEO confirmed a software issue had arisen with Lyriq in the early stages of production, and that slowed things down.
By the end of the week, Harvey said Cadillac will have shipped 1,000 Lyriqs in the past 30 days, and shipping rates will continue to increase.
Cadillac now plans to deliver all Lyriq Launch Editions by the end of the first quarter. Harvey says some 2023 orders will be pushed up model year 2024.
Harvey also confirmed production of Celestiq will begin in December.
