Thieves caught on camera breaking into cars in local subdivision
SEMMES, Ala. (WALA) – The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help in identifying some of the neighborhood thieves caught on camera, breaking into any vehicle they could. Neighbors in a local subdivision said this was not the first time it had happened and the thieves were becoming more brazen.

Surveillance video from the Squad Chief’s Facebook page shows a man tugging at the door handle of a white car, seeing it locked, then rushing to the next vehicle. That time, succeed and rummage through it.
Another angle shows the car pulling over to the side of the road and the man running out. Another guy jumped out of the passenger seat to crash into the car next to him. Then the two of them jumped into the car.
One woman was shocked to learn this happened just a few blocks from her door.
“This was definitely a surprise, but this is the first time I have encountered this situation,” said Shanice Cunningham.
Other neighbors said they were also victims, but fortunately, no valuables were left in their car.
The resounding message is to warn people that some of these crimes are preventable by taking extra safety precautions.
“I feel that everyone should be aware of their surroundings for one person, so lock the doors, and if you can, get your car into the garage,” Cunningham said. .
