When it comes to SPAS-12 pistols in Battlefield 2042, overpowering is an overstatement. In the new update, the high-powered shotgun has become good and truly broken, giving players the ability to single-hit enemies from incredible distances, as demonstrated in a video by YouTuber JackFrags.
While the spy gun is not playable in Battlefield 2042, it is available in the featured BF3 game mode via the Battlefield Portal. In the main game, players cannot use spins with SPAS-12, but deadly combinations are still allowed in BF3 Portal TDM mode. Making balance issues even worse is the fact that this shotgun seems to have incredible range, with JackFrags regularly getting a kill shot from a distance – even having a sniping moment a real sniper.
JackFrags speculates that the bug was added in a recent patch, however community members on Reddit confirmed that the SPAS-12 bug has existed in the Battlefield Portal since the game was released. The YouTuber says he only uploaded a video of his feat with the broken gun to get the attention of the developers, and his strategy seems to have worked. Since the video was released, it has been deemed a known issue by DICE, with community manager Kevin Johnson tweeting that “we are looking into this.”
Until then, players can check out the BF3 TDM mode if they want the taming experience – or simply avoid the mode until the damaged gun is patched.
