One of the producers of the film is the Singapore company Potocol, founded in 2014 by Jeremy Chua. He has produced works such as the TV series A Yellow Bird (2016) by Singaporean filmmaker K. Rajagopal.
Both Tiger Stripes and Inside The Yellow Cocoon Shell also entered the festival’s Camera d’Or competition for best debut feature.
Justin Ang, IMDA’s assistant executive director of communications, innovation, media and marketing, said: “We are extremely pleased to have the most Made-with-Singapore films premiering at Cannes this year. Today, especially since 2023 also marks the 25th anniversary of the Singapore Film Commission. The committee has played an important role in supporting our local directors and budding cinematic talent in producing great stories and we are delighted to celebrate this important milestone. .”
Tiger Stripes and Inside the Yellow Cocoon Shell have been awarded the Southeast Asia Co-Production Award by SFC and IMDA, under the Media Talent Development Program (MTPP).
In an IMDA press release, it says that since 2018, content grants have supported products that provide quality roles for local media professionals, aiming to build portfolios and their experience.
As of May 1, more than 300 media professionals and 35 projects have been supported under the MTPP. Of these, 11 have been released, the rest are still under development.
It added that the released films have won numerous awards at prestigious international film festivals and awards platforms, as well as being sold to major streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon.
