TJ ends Week 8 vs. Eagles
The Pittsburgh Steelers will have to wait at least another week for the return of the superstar outside midfield TJ Watt.
The team failed to activate him from the injured reserve by Saturday’s 4pm ET roster deadline, meaning he won’t be eligible to play in Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles 6-0. .
There was some hope this week that Watt could return earlier than expected, especially after he trained a few times and did not dismiss the idea of competing.
Now it looks like he will be back in two weeks (after saying goodbye to the Steelers next week) against the New Orleans Saints.
Watt has been sidelined since the Steelers’ Week 1 win with a chest injury followed by a knee procedure. The Steelers’ defense heavily missed the NFL’s Most Valuable Defensive Player and has struggled to consistently pressurize opposing defenders.
The Steelers will also be without defensive forwards Levi Wallace and Larry Ogunjobi as well as starter Chris Boswell for Sunday’s game.
