Tom Holland plays Fred Astaire in producer Amy Pascal’s film – The Hollywood Reporter

Tom Holland will take on the role of Fred Astaire.

While promoting Spider-Man: There’s no way home in London, actor told Associated Press that he will play the iconic actor-singer-dancer in an upcoming Sony film.

Holland said: “The script came out a week ago. “I haven’t read it yet; they didn’t give it to me. “

The news comes weeks after Spider-Man producer and former Sony executive Amy Pascal told GQ that she wanted Holland for the role in the actor’s profile.

“She FaceTimed me before. I was in the tub,” Holland told Pascal’s AP. “And we had a lovely FaceTime, but I’ll be playing Fred Astaire.”

It’s not clear who wrote the project, but Pascal said she had her eye on Holland for the role.

“There are very few actors working today that are versatile in his way,” she told GQ last month. “And he’s the hardest worker I know.”

Holland previosly showed off hjs dancing skills on Lip Sync Battle opposite his Spider-Man co-star Zendaya in 2017, where he performed Rihanna’s “Singin’ in the Rain” and “Umbrella” mashups.

Another Astaire project is also being worked on by Amazon Studios and Automatik, with Bell playing the legend and Margaret Qualley playing Ginger Rogers.
