touch screen: Apple may be planning to bring the macOS experience to the iPad, here’s how
Apple may have plans to bring a macOS-like experience in the future iPad When the tablet is attached to an external keyboard, a new patent has been revealed, as reported by Patently Apple.
According to the patent description and the image, there will be a basic device such as a keyboard with a trackpad, which can then be combined with a computing device such as iPad for a macOS-like experience with Apple Pencil.
Patent can also mean a Apple devices of the future will be a MacBook and the hybrid iPad. Apple may be trying a new tactic to create a device that bridges the gap between the two aforementioned product categories and also offers a reasonable price to attract more potential users to try it out. When the keyboard is not attached, the device can act like an iPad with Apple Pencil support, but when attached, the screen can turn into touch screen one, something the MacBook won’t have in the future.
Something along these lines was also speculated by technology journalist Mark Gurman last month in the April 17 Power On newsletter, in which he envisioned what the future of the iPad would look like. According to Gurman, such a device must have three modes of operation: touch screen, Apple Pencil mode, and Pro mode activated when a keyboard or other display is connected.
It’s a patent, and no one can guess whether Apple will choose to continue with it. But now, a new, affordable product MacBook-iPad hybrid is what tech enthusiasts want to see.
