Toyota Crown launch July 15: Excitingly upgraded sedan is moving towards our goal
It looks like a new model called Toyota Crown will launch in the US soon. A small Japanese website has the intro line “Discover Your Crown” and two questions, “Sedan?” and “SUVs?” The Japan Page Creative311 managed to swipe a preview image of the front corner matching the patent drawings. The countdown tells the world to find out what happens at 1:30 p.m. EDT on July 15.
Submit reports, rumorand patent images together, this seems to be the revenge of Original Toyota Venza. That first Venza from 2009 was based on the Camry platform but didn’t want to be called a sedan nor intersection, looks like a raised wagon. The automaker calls it “The optimized car” and markets it with the line “You are more than one thing. Venza too.” Even the name is a mashup, a cross between Venture and Monza. On the other hand, the upcoming Crown will also be built on the basis of the Camry but it looks like an upgraded sedan. It is also expected to be in a different price bracket. The Venza is designed to sit between the Camry and Highlander, giving shoppers a Toyota alternative to the Edge and FX45. Crown seems to be at the forefront of the range, in line with the Crown brand values in Japan, with prices starting as high as $50,000. Notably, the car in the patent images wears the Crown badge on the hood, the Toyota badge only appearing on the rear.
The mixture is said to be 194 inches long, 72.4 inches wide and 60.6 inches tall on a 112.2-inch wheelbase. This will give it dimensions that – subject to the gray area it’s being marketed in – don’t quite match the crossovers out there. Compared to the Ford Edge, this Crown size uses the same wheelbase but the body is 5 inches longer, 3.5 inches narrower and 8 inches lower. We get the vibe that this Crown can line up with the Ford Fusion Active, whenever that domestic wagon arrives. Compared to the 2009 Venza, the Crown will be 5 inches longer, 2.5 inches narrower and 3 inches lower with a 3 inch shorter wheelbase.
However, we have read that the Crown badge will transform into at least two types of vehicles. A Reuters report says Toyota will launch a new sedan version for Japan this summer. Then there will be a premium version for the international market possibly called the Crown Cross. Predict whether the powertrain has going from a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine with a CVT continuously variable transmission; to a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid with a six-speed automatic transmission used in the Lexus RX 500h; one Dip into the mixture; and a battery-electric version. Reuters said the hybrid company is working towards our target, PHEVs are for Japan only, the others are not being brought into the US and are targeting unknown parts. Front-wheel drive is said to be standard; All cakes on the menu are of course for the US market.
One leaked seller documents from February indicate an October 2022 sale date for a 2023 Crown in the US. We have a few more days to find out.
