The San Diego Padres is the most recent team from the league to receive the Nike City Connect jersey. The release did not go as planned. Before the official release, a number of images of the shirt were leaked on social networks.
The Padres City Connect jersey is the latest in a series of shirts that MLB has gradually released throughout the year. Just last week, Milwaukee Brewers received their City Connects, which received mixed reviews from fans. Before them, the Los Angeles Angels also soon leaked their information.
The idea behind the City Connect jersey is to change the unified style around the league while highlighting the defining characteristics of each team’s city. The MLB announced a City Connect partnership with Nike in 2021.
Only four promotional images of the new Padres jersey have been leaked. These include detailed shots of the name patches on the back of the jersey, along with close-up shots of the team’s alternate logo patch on the sleeves. But the socks are the star of the show. They contain a total of five colors.
Considering that the jersey number is far different from San Diego Padres‘The original color, fans mostly had a negative reaction. One fan compared the bright pastel color to the color in the popular Barbie movies.

The color seems to suit Florida’s style more than California’s. Bright pink and teal seem appropriate in a sense considering San Diego’s beach culture. Otherwise, they look like they belong in a Floridian city like Miami or Orlando.
The new jersey is a far cry from the Padres’ main brown and yellow colors.
