Trump, family seek to block New York attorney general’s subpoena

NEW YORK – Former US President Donald Trump and his family have sought to block a subpoena New York State Attorney General Letitia James issued as part of a civil investigation into his business practices. Trump, accusing her of “selective prosecution.”

James’s office last month accused the Trump Organization of repeatedly misrepresenting the value of its assets for financial gain, citing what her office said was substantial new evidence of the potential cheat.

Her court filings are part of an effort to force Trump and his two adult children, Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump, testifying in a nearly three-year investigation.

In their Tuesday filing seeking to block the subpoena, lawyers for the Trumps said James, a Democrat, is targeting eldest brother Trump, a Republican, because she “didn’t like his speech and his political views” in an attempt to “intervene in his politics. ambition.”

The New York attorney general’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
