Turkish military vehicles run over women and children in Syria

Opposition activists say a Turkish military vehicle ran over a woman and a child in a northern Syrian town, killing them instantly and sparking protests. of local people.

Activists said the crash appeared to have occurred in the town of Atareb west of the northern city of Aleppo as two armored vehicles drove through the town. Angry residents then threw stones at the vehicles as they drove slowly in the town located about 16 kilometers from the Turkish border, they said.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an opposition war watchdog, said members of a rebel group in Atareb protected Turkish soldiers from protesters and took them away. to a nearby police station.

There was no immediate comment from Turkish officials.

The observatory said a Turkish convoy killed a girl in early November near the town of Ras al-Ayn, and added that they drove away without helping the girl.
