by HBO Our Last got off to a strong start with viewers.

The series based on the hit video game franchise — co-created by the game’s architects, Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin — brought in 4.7 million cross-platform viewers on Sunday night, according to Nielsen and first-party data from HBO. That number just lasted House of the Dragon’nearly 10 million of the HBO series premiered over the past decade. More differrent Game of Thrones prequel, the last HBO show to have a larger opening night audience at launch was Boardwalk Empire (4.81 million) in 2010 — several years before HBO had any serious online presence.

The 4.7 million viewers included the premiere online on HBO, replays later in the night, and streaming on HBO Max. More detailed audience analysis will be available when Nielsen releases final ratings for Sunday; above House of the Dragon’on its first night, more than half of the cross-platform audience came via streaming.
