Twitter reacts to Gangsta Boo’s removal from the Grammy tribute
The death of rappers Gangsta Boo And Lil Keed were unusually and surreptitiously removed during this year’s Grammy’s ‘In Memoriam’ memorial service, and social media has been relentlessly reacting to their absence.
On Sunday (February 5), the ceremony held its annual segment, where the academy honors deceased artists in 2022.
Countless late rap artists honored at Sunday’s Grammy Awards, with the exception of Gangsta Boo & Lil Keed
Among this year’s flower recipients are Takeoff, Coolie and DJ Kay Slay.
Meanwhile, the name of Gangsta Boo, 43-year-old rap pioneer Memphis, was eerily absent from Sunday’s memorial service.
Boo, whose real name was Lola Mitchell, was found dead on January 1 in a neighborhood west of Memphis International Airport. Authorities believe she may have overdosed, with drugs believed to have been found on her at the time of her death, as previously reported by Shade room.
Fans on Twitter were quick to notice the obvious omission.
Just because the Grammys forgot about you doesn’t mean we will. Long live Gangsta Boo. pic.twitter.com/6ptqhIo5dS

Twitter lashed out at Grammy Awards for omitting Gangsta Boo from memorial service
One user felt that “removing Gangsta Boo, one of the pioneers of Southern female rap, from the GRAMMY tribute is a sin and shameful.”
Another commenter called the unfortunate situation “unacceptable and so disrespectful”.
A third user noted that Gangsta Boo may have been overlooked as she officially passed away in 2023 and not last year as is customary during the Grammy Awards.
“My wife theorized that maybe Gangsta Boo would be at the next Grammys because she technically qualified in 2023. They have a year to get it right.”
While she was largely ignored at this year’s Grammy Awards, Gangsta Boo’s death drew support from her peers following her departure.
Hip hop colleagues like Juicy J, DJ Paul and GloRilla all paid their respects, while her mother, Veronica Mitchell, shared a message of appreciation for the late rapper’s supporters.

YSL Rapper Lil Keed Also Noticeably Abandoned During Grammy’s 2022 Memorial, Rans Reacts
Meanwhile, the cause of death of YSL rapper Lil Keed has been revealed following his sudden death last year, Shade room previous report.
The 24-year-old, whose death was linked to a rare eosinophilia, was also notably absent from Sunday’s Grammy memorial service.
Similarly, fans also came to support the late rapper and appealed to the academy for removing the rapper from the evening’s memorial services.
“Grammy really doesn’t honor Lil Keed. Scum,” wrote another viewer. “Did they forget Lil Keed at the Grammys???” a third person commented.

What do you think, Roomies? Was their absence just a simple mistake? Or should the Grammys include Gangsta Boo and Lil Keed?
