Two adopted sisters meet for the first time in many years
From an early age, Hannah Raleigh wanted an older sibling.
And deep down, Raleigh says she feels like she’s always had one.
But it was not until she took a DNA test that she learned that those suspicions had come true.
During an appearance on ABC’s Good Morning America on Wednesday, Raleigh met her long-lost sister in person, Limia Ravart, for the first time after an ancestry test confirmed that the two who are actually related.
“All the thoughts went through my head at once and I panicked a bit, but I ended up sending her a text that night, and all of a sudden 20 minutes later, she replied. me,” Raleigh said, recalling moments later. she got her test results back.
Both from China, the two adoptive sisters will find homes in different cities, Raleigh in Chicago and Ravart in Montreal.
“Hi, we’re obviously like sisters,” says Ravart.
Ravart even forgot about the DNA test she did a few years ago, which found no matches.
“I was shocked, really shocked. I couldn’t sleep like the whole night after the email,” she said.
Since then, the sisters have developed a friendship through video chats and discovered much in common between them.
Raleigh plans to visit Ravart in Montreal next month and both have matching tattoo intentions.
