Two Hamden students face charges after fight resulted in stabbing | Connecticut News
HAMDEN, CT (WFSB) – Two Hamden teens are facing charges following a melee that led to a stabbing Monday afternoon.
School officials said the altercation broke out between the two students around 2:15 p.m. near a city bus stop, not far from Hamden High School.
During the fight, the 14-year-old girl was stabbed several times in the back. He was taken to the hospital for treatment and is in a stable condition.
A 13-year-old student was treated for a minor hand injury. He was charged with second-degree assault.
The 14-year-old boy was also charged with third-degree assault.
Both students are in 9th grade and have not been identified.
Police said they found a small folding knife.
Both teenagers are scheduled to appear in juvenile court on December 13.
The incident follows another from last month when police said a Hamden High student brought a loaded gun to school.
Misaki Claflin, a senior at Hamden School, said: ‘I mean with the gun incident a few months ago, it’s not too surprising, but it’s still worrisome that a child will stab a knife.
Two teenagers at a high school in Meriden are being charged in connection with a video posted on social media showing what turned out to be a prop gun.
Following Monday’s incident, Hamden police have increased their presence around the school.
Additionally, the school has a crisis team available for students to talk to on Tuesdays.
