Two local funeral homes have announced they will not charge the families of Uvalde, Texas school shooting victims.
Many families in the Uvalde, TX area mourn the loss of their loved ones following Tuesday’s tragic shooting at Robbie Elementary SchoolTwo local funeral homes share that they will not charge the families of the victims who unfortunately lost their lives.
Based on NBC NewsHillcrest Memorial Funeral Home and Rushing-Estes-Knowles Funeral Home announced that they will not charge victims’ families for their services.
Hillcrest said in a statement,
“We have fought together as a community, and we will unite as one now in a time of need.”
Along with Hillcrest, Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary announced it would not charge Uvalde families for funeral services.
“No family will be charged for our services.”
Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary added that they were there to support the bereaved community.
“For over 60 years we have supported Uvalde and beyond. Today, our resolve is stronger than ever. We are here for the people of Uvalde, and our specialists are currently working at Robb Elementary to assist law enforcement. As the situation evolves and we have the opportunity to support our community, not a single family will be charged for our services. “
Uvalde Shooting Death Toll Rising
As previously reported, the death toll in the shooting has now reached 19 children and two adults.
Officials have identified the suspected shooter in the incident as 18 years old Salvador Ramoswho were killed in the shooting.
NBC News reported that a Customs and Border Protection officer on duty with the Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC) was involved in the killing of the suspect. Law enforcement sources shared that the duty officer and two law enforcement officers entered the school during the shooting and opened fire on the suspect, who opened fire from behind a barricade.
The agent was later shot and wounded in the process. Reportedly, his injuries were not fatal. Sources say the agent was able to help “remove the threat.”
