United by Blue, the brand behind the official apparel called Organic Corduroy shirt Call this heavy yet cozy garment a “stand.” It’s a portmanteau of “shirt” and “jacket,” of course, and it would be a bit of an overstatement to me if it wasn’t precise here. I actually wear this as a jacket on some days, and like a shirt on others. In fact, it does two missions in “shirt mode,” so let’s start there.
Wear as a button down, this one garment works perfectly against a t-shirt on a mild day. Cooler days? Go with a long-sleeve t-shirt. Cold day? Wear it underneath a heavier coat.
Ah, but what about a chilly day that’s not too bitter? Do what I do, and wear your gloves over a sweater over a t-shirt. Not only will you be nice and warm, but the layering looks cool too, so rock it.
This shelf features a thick collar, wide pattern (“wales” is the actual vertical stripe that defines the knit), a straight jacket-like hem, and dual chest pockets that also come in handy for the things you want to put in your pocket.

For the composition of Corduroy fabric outerwear itself, that’s where United by Blue apparel really stands out. This jacket is made from organic cotton and features “vegetable ivory” corozo buttons made from Tagua palm kernels. All the materials used here are highly sustainable and the manufacturing process is certified as responsible.
United by Blue is in fact a certified B Corp, and FYI: “B Corporation is defined as a business that meets the highest standards on verified environmental and social performance, public transparency and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. They are accelerating a global cultural shift to redefine business success and build a more sustainable and inclusive economy.”
So you can feel good (morally) wearing this stand while you also look and feel good physically. And that’s all good.
