University of Manitoba faculty union sets November 2 strike deadline


The College of Manitoba School Affiliation says it’s setting a bargaining deadline of October 31 and a strike deadline of November 2 because it continues to battle with college administration over a brand new deal.

The UMFA says there are points with college retention and recruitment.

“We’re pissed off that after 5 years of wage freezes and authorities interference that the administration can’t acknowledge why we proceed to battle with points of college retention,” UMFA president Orvie Dingwall stated.

The union represents greater than 1,200 professors, instructors, educational librarians, and archivists on the College of Manitoba.

Earlier this week, the UMFA voted 85 per cent in favour of calling a strike, ought to it’s essential.

On Thursday, the College of Manitoba College students Union board handed a movement to “stand in solidarity with the UMFA and college students supporting UMFA”.

“UMSU stands firmly with the colleges’ trigger,” stated a press release from the scholars union. “A wage improve is overdue for our college’s professors who work laborious for his or her college students, particularly as they’ve tailored to on-line studying.”
