MOSCOW – The US Embassy in Russia warned Americans on Sunday to have an evacuation plancited the threat of attacks in Moscow and along Russia’s border with Ukraine, leading to criticism from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“There have been attack threats against shopping malls, railway and metro stations as well as other public gathering places in major metropolitan areas, including Moscow and St.. Petersburg as well as areas of increased tension along Russia’s border with Ukraine,” the embassy said.
“Review your personal security plans,” the embassy said. “There is an evacuation plan that does not rely on US government assistance.”
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova questioned whether the United States had passed on information about possible attacks on Russia.
“And if not, how to make sense of all this?” Zakharova said.
