Doubling the number of engines adds little power so it may seem strange, but the AWD engines are smaller, generating only 80 kW each. To hit 62 mph from a stop takes 8.4 seconds with one engine and 7.7 with two, so the modest power improvement is clearly secondary to the benefits of all-wheel-drive traction, even with a little extra weight.
