USMNT forward Josh Sargent scores the winning scorpion kick for Norwich vs. Watford
It’s been a long, difficult season for Josh Sargent. Understandably, he was dropped from the most recent USMNT roster for the upcoming January World Cup qualifiers.
His reaction, within minutes of the roster’s debut, was to score his first Premier League goal in a completely unbelievable fashion in a crucial game against a relegation candidate.
Sargent, who had previously failed to score in 18 Premier League appearances, finally beat the monkey with a goal that could become a legitimate Puskas prize contender.

In the 51st minute, Sargent received a pass from Timmu Pukki just behind him towards the post. He brought his foot back and made contact with the ball, bouncing it up and into the underside of the crossbar and into the back of the net.
Sargent did a rocking baby celebration, and said after the game that he devoted performance for his infant child, who was born just a week ago. Goals generate a whopping 0.55 expected goals, depending solely on the position of the shot relative to the goal and obtained some laughs on social media.
Minutes after the goal was scored, the headlights at Vicarage Road went out, causing the match to stall. Jokes arose on social media about Sargent’s goal being turned off.

The 21-year-old scored his second 23 minutes later, surging past the Watford defender to land a header from Milo Rashica’s cross, an exclamation on an already incredible evening.
Sargent’s performance was so brilliant that away from Norwich City’s supporters shouted “America! USA!” chant after the game is over.
Victory for Norwich City is huge. It took the Canaries out of the relegation zone and pushed Watford down into the relegation zone. Norwich are currently in 17th place, two points ahead of the Hornets, who have dropped to 18th.
