USPS truck catches fire in eastern Orange County residential area


A postal van caught fire last weekend in a residential area in eastern Orange County and the U.S. Postal Service is investigating the incident. No one was injured and no packages were lost in the fire. Dancer Way on December 31: Postal workers bang on Smith’s door and beg him to call 911, Smith said. Smith said postal workers pulled boxes full of mail and small packages out of trucks so they wouldn’t catch fire. Smith called her a hero for making sure the truck was out of range of any neighbor’s property.

The video above shot by neighbor Jeff Smith shows the blaze along North Dancer Way on December 31.

The postal worker banged on Smith’s door and begged him to call 911, Smith said.

Smith said postal workers pulled boxes full of mail and small packages out of trucks so they wouldn’t catch fire.

Smith calls her a hero for making sure the truck stays out of any neighborhood property.

WESH 2 is awaiting a response from the USPS on what may have caused the truck fire.
