Very spooky 29th Halloween birthday discount

Looking to throw a Halloween party? Then you have come to the right point.

Let’s start this conversation with the fact that my fiancé and i LOVE Halloween. Every year, we go on our annual “Halloween shopping trip” and pick up a ton of decorations to add to our ever-growing inventory. (we also do this for Christmas).

We also LOVE planning and throwing parties – we really do. My birthday is October 23rd so we decided to have my first Halloween party for my 29th, something I’ve always wanted to do since seeing the movie Casper.

Needless to say, we decided to turn our house into a haunted house and suffice it to say it was truly “a night to part”.

If you’ve ever wanted to throw a Halloween party then keep reading because I’m going to sort through all the merchandise on how we did it and where we got it all.

I’ll also be posting a full “haunted house tour”, so keep an eye on that—maybe IG — SUGAREDSTILETTOS.

First thing, let’s talk about decorations. This is one of the most important aspects because DETAILS are everything. Here is our decoration list:

  1. Spider web w/ spider— we hang these on everything and anything we can in the house, doorknobs, picture frames, tables, thermostats.

  2. Command hooks (multiple sizes) – this is a MUST because you will be hanging and placing things all over your house and you need to be able to take them down afterwards without damaging your walls

  3. Black mesh fabric— get a ton of this! We’ve spread it from the ceiling to the floor in our living room to essentially cover our usual walls.

  4. Halloween String Lights— we chose purple halloween string lights which have several different modes you can set. We wrapped these around our deck and zigzagged across the ceiling.

  5. Flashing fire lights and orange bulbs— I cannot stress how important this is next. We’ve replaced EVERY single lightbulb in our house with flickering fire lights or pulsing orange bulbs like you’re in a horror movie. At night, this effect created in conjunction with the purple string lights is INSANE. The ones we used are linked here!

  6. Ghoul, Talking Mirror, Mother, etc— We also replaced 90% of the wall decor in our home and replaced it with interactive halloween decorations that are activated by sound or motion so that when people walk past our house, everything jumps out. away from them or start talking to them. As for the wall decor, we didn’t swap it in already covered in the cobwebs mentioned above.

  7. Bloody veils and handprints— We hung bloody curtains from different doorways in the house so you have to go through them to get to the next room. The mirrors and steps leading upstairs were covered with bloody handprints glued to them.

  8. Warning tape / Zombie band / Do not enter the band— WORRYuch an inexpensive thing you can use to add spooky effects to just about anything. I pack these glass jars in here and stick it to our fridge and door.

  9. “Get Help”, “Run”, “Get Out Now” Bloody door/window visor— We also cover every window in the house with plastic sheets that have different sayings on them. You cannot see inside or outside our house.

  10. Mist generator- Yes, we already have a fog machine in our house (link here). It has legitimately enhanced every decor and lighting tenfold by engulfing our home in an eerie fog. I would also like to add that this fog combined with all the lights hanging from the ceiling really makes you feel like I’m in a nightclub—hello Club Spooky.

  11. Straws and Halloween Paper Plates / Cups— We have selected a variety of paper straws packs of different colors and skull shaped paper plates and cups.

  12. Halloween colored balloons— My first hot air balloon arch! It took a few hours to put together, but it was so worth it. Literally created the perfect photo selection for everyone’s outfit. I linked everything I used to create this bad boy here!

We also have a cocktail + shot special, because why not. I’ve had a lot of questions about both, so I thought I’d give you all the formulas – courtesy of Shaun!

HALLOWEEN COCKTAIL— WITCHES BREW

If you want to really wow your guests then be sure to make this one, I guarantee they will love it. Not only is it insanely easy, but I mean who doesn’t want to drink a bubbly concoction from a cauldron on Halloween? #drinkupwitches

Witch beer recipe:

Element:

  • 1.75L absolute citron

  • 750ML Smirnoff cam

  • 2 large cans of pineapple juice (I think 64 oz each)

  • 1 gallon cranberry juice

  • 2 liters 7up

  • 1 can frozen lemonade concentrate

  • 10 lbs dry ice (we bought this from a local ice store, just call ahead and order. Pick it up within the day as you can’t keep it in the freezer)

Steps:

  1. Stir ingredients 1 through 6 together in your “cauldron” or whatever giant bowl you’re using if you don’t have one.

  2. Add dry ice for a bubbly suction effect.

***PLEASE NOTE that you need to use gloves to handle dry ice as it will burn your skin if you touch it. Dry ice is completely safe to add to drinks because it melts and is harmless. Shaun split the dry ice into a few larger blocks and only re-added it during the night. Do not scoop dry ice into the cup when serving, it should just be a solid mass in the mixing bowl for a fuming/bubbling effect.

HALLOWEEN SHOT – BLOOD NEED

Again, these are easy to find and well worth the price. All you need are 4 boxes of strawberry jello mix, 4 cups of orange vodka, and 50 plastic syringes.

PRO TIP – don’t add vodka until you’ve finished boiling the water and jello together, or you’ll partially burn the vodka.

After everything is mixed together, you just need to use a plastic needle to suck the liquid into them + then put it in the fridge! We’ve done about 50 of these.

I took a simple plastic bowl and wrapped it in the zombie warning tape mentioned above! Everything used is linked here!

DESCRIPTION TIME. Obviously I have a HUGE sweet tooth, so dessert is always a must-have.

I decided to get crafty and decorate my own cookies. I bought some Pillsbury sugar cookie mix, slate and halloween sprinkles.

I attached a pipe tool to the black tape to decorate the designs.

Cheap, easy, and delicious!

Shaun also surprised me with one of the most legit Halloween birthday cakes I’ve seen in my entire life.

If you are a local to CT and need a cake for a special event, this cake is for Hardcore Sweets in Watertown, CT. Highly recommended.

They are known in town for their innovative designs and great taste.

The first tier is made up of a vanilla cake with a vanilla pudding layer. The second top tier is cookies and cake with cookies and cream filling—it’s amazing. It is topped and surrounded by little ghosts and macaroons, one of my favorites!

They have NAILED this cake seriously from taste to presentation. 10 out of 10 in my book!

& just like that you’ve got yourself a good Halloween party as I still call “Club Spooky”.

Love is always,
