The Japanese YouTube channel for Pokémon is a treasure trove of high-quality animation, and their latest videos – focusing on ASMR-related recipes in the everyday life of a guy living with Pokémon – are an absolute pleasure.
Episode one features Pikachu, Jigglypuff, and Psyduck adventuring around the house, while their Pokémon-obsessed owners make an Eevee coffee, a Pikachu choux pastry, and then, when Jigglypuff is sad about being abandoned, a little Jigglypuff cream will melt.
Episode two sees Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Charmander, and Psyduck play catch in the garden, while their owners pick strawberries. Jigglypuffs get hit on the head and make a small squeak, but all is well as their owners make a ton of egg tarts, pizza and what looks like ube mochi. Can Pokémon eat human food? Or are all those sweets for him?
We should also tell you that if you don’t like the hum of wet food, you will completely hate these videos. After all, ASMR doesn’t work for everyone. But it’s worth watching the bits with Pokémon, because a day in the life of a world where Pokémon are real and mundane is really sweet.
