Video shows federal prisoner Robert Johnson Jr. escaping custody at Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (KTRK) — Federal prisoner Robert Johnson, Jr. pushed his well past an unarmed guard Tuesday night time at Milwaukee’s Mitchell Worldwide Airport.

Investigators stated Johnson obtained off a aircraft and requested to make use of the toilet. As soon as his handcuffs had been undone, he punched his escort and ran.

A second digicam exterior reveals Johnson working previous ready vehicles and to the parking storage.

Milwaukee County Sheriff Earnell Lucas stated his deputies did not know the prisoner was coming to the airport.

“I believe it was very unlucky. It jeopardized the protection of passengers, each right here at Mitchell and the airline,” stated Lucas.

The sheriff stated a non-public firm known as U.S. Corrections was transporting Johnson from Laredo, Texas to Rock County, Wisconsin.

Johnson is dealing with theft and cocaine costs. Neither the non-public prisoner transport firm or the US Marshals Service have responded concerning the escape.

“Definitely the U.S. Marshals is conducting the investigation and making an attempt to apprehend the person and take him again into custody,” Lucas stated. “However within the meantime there was some procedures that must be checked out to insure the protection of the flying public.”
