Virtual Abandonment Wire: FAAB Report for Week 12 Pickups, Free Dealers

If you didn’t use the waiver claim or spent a lot of your FAAB budget last week, chances are you’ll be in the saving mood again during this scoring period. The top people for fantasy abandonment in Week 12 are mostly people you want to dig deeper (Tre’Quan Smith, Marquez Valdes-Scantling) or usable as flex (Ty Johnson, Tevin Coleman, Boston Scott). Orange Newton at least a pretty interesting starting pick in QB, but most fantasy teams are in midfield at this point in the season. No matter how you look at it, this is more of a free agency week than a “wait” or “high bid” week, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

As we will do weekly this season with the help of our friends at Virtual alarm, break down the top picks and predict how much of your FAAB budget you should bid on them.

FAAB Advice on Fantasy Football Week 12: Abandon QB receivers, streamers

Cam Newton (CAR). For those Patrick Mahomes and Kyler Murray owners out there, Newton offers a good streaming pick this week. For those of you looking for a more permanent solution at this position, he might as well be considered in that respect. Last week’s pass count wasn’t very high with just 27 passes, but he completed 21 passes and accounted for a total of 3 touchdowns. We know the value of running a quarterback at this point and he has recorded a quick touchdown in the game. The Dolphins’ defense has improved a bit towards the end of the year, but they will have a hard time trying to contain both Cam and Christian McCaffrey. Expected FAAB bid: 6-8% of the total FAAB . budget

Teddy Bridgewater (DEN). I shudder just thinking about what could happen when streaming Bridgewater this week. Alas, everything is there for him to have a decent game. Denver bye bye, it’s a home game and the Chargers just allowed Ben Roethlisberger to throw 273 yards and three touchdowns. With the rest and extra time to prepare for this match, Teddy B can provide a good chance in this match. Honestly, his schedule is pretty friendly for the rest of the season, but how confident are you that he’s returning to regular production week in, week out? Let’s see what happens this week with Bolts. Proj. FAAB Bid: 5%

Mac Jones (NE). The results will always vary, and with a campaign game like the one in New England, the Patriots won’t need to put the game in the hands of rookies. Last Thursday’s game scenario didn’t require an Atlanta pass. That could change this week against Tennessee, whose defense is slowly getting better as the season goes on. The Titans still introduced a paper friendly match for the quarterbacks, and Jones was widely available. Keep expectations in check as we have yet to see Jones make more than 30 passes in any of his past three games. Proj. FAAB Bid: 4-5%

FAAB Advice on Fantasy Football Week 12: Abandon RB pickups, broadcast sets

Ty Johnson and Tevin Coleman (NYJ). It’s hard to be overly optimistic about Johnson or Coleman, but with Michael Carter (ankle) possibly out for weeks, it means both will be picked. The opportunity to nurture fictitious production is in a run-down position and both will see increased workloads. The Jets visit Texas next week and Houston has allowed plenty of RB production, including nine hasty touchdowns in their past nine games with plenty of 100-yard rush effort. Consider Coleman to be a bit more valuable in standard leagues and Johnson to be worth a bit more in PPR formats. Expected FAAB bid: 10-15% of your total FAAB budget

Boston Scott (PHI). Jordan Howard, facing a knee sprain, will be out of action for several weeks to bode well for Scott. Philadelphia’s pounding attack only burned through the Saints’ top-rated defense. So getting a piece of this cake seems like a good idea. He will still run behind Miles Sanders and even Jalen Hurts, who ran in three points on Sunday. But if Sanders gets hurt, or doesn’t have the backing of the coaching staff, then Scott totally deserves it. He’s not one to add by any means, but certainly one with some appeal in PPR formats. Proj. FAAB Bid: 7-10%

DeeJay Dallas (SEA). Dallas records as a solid speculative addition this week. He was behind Alex Collins in touchdowns last Sunday, but both received the same number of touches, and it was Dallas who found the final point in a two-yard run. With Collins struggling, Chris Carson (neck) making it for the year, and Rashaad Penny battling a hamstring injury, we could certainly be a lot worse off than Dallas heading into Week 12. . Proj. FAAB Bid: 5-8%

Dontrell Hilliard (TEN). It’s hard to feel great about any Titan returning at this point. Offense has been somewhat struggling since Derrick Henry’s leg) was injured. D’Onta Foreman is an idiot, Adrian Peterson has definitely aged, and Jeremy McNichols (concussion) had to go out last week. Hilliard named McNichols and led the team on 10 goals, catching seven at 47 yards. If McNichols is on the field again, then Hilliard has some PPR value against the Patriots in Week 12. Proj. FAAB Bid: 3%

Week 12 FAAB Fantasy Football Tips: Abandon WR pickups, transmitters

Tre’Quan Smith (NO). He didn’t find the end zone, but Smith was still heavily involved with five 64-yard catches on eight goals. He’s been working outside more, and the production was definitely there for him. He has 15 goals in his past two games and engagement is trending in the right direction. Proj. FAAB Bid: 10-12% of total FAAB budget

Cedrick Wilson (DAL). Wilson will be a popular streamer this week and he will also be popular in DFS. Amari Cooper (COVID) certainly won’t play against the Raiders on Thursday, and CeeDee Lamb certainly won’t, as he’s on concussion protocol. Wilson ran an extended run last week, getting seven goals. The Raiders introduced one of the worst teams in the league, paving the way for Wilson to be present for a fruitful Thanksgiving. Proj. FAAB Bid: 7-9%

Marquez Valdes-Scantling (GB). MVS’s boom or bust potential is certainly well documented, and that’s part of the reason he hasn’t bought tons of FAAB coins. However, he is about to start a game where he sees 10 goals, and next week the Packers face the Rams. We expect that game to be a shootout, but Aaron Rodgers’ toe injury and the colder elements could certainly dampen those expectations. Proj. FAAB Bid: 6-8%

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine (TEN). Westbrook-Ikhine made the relinquishment tie earlier this season when AJ Brown and Julio Jones were both hurt. Well, Jones is still on IR and Brown has a bit of a flop. Add in the fact that Derrick Henry will still miss significant time and Marcus Johnson picked up a hamstring injury early last week, and we are looking for opportunities for NWI. He’s far from replenishing, but if you’re struggling this week, he could see a healthy workload against the Patriots’ tough defense. He saw eight targets on Sunday, and he could see about six or seven this week. Proj. FAAB Bid: 4%

Week 12 Fantasy Football FAAB advice: Get rid of TE pickups, transmitters

Dan Arnold (JAC). Many might scoff at this recommendation after a goose egg from Arnold against the 49ers, but he’s still the most on-court and second-most runner on the team behind only Marvin Jones. It was just one of those days. Jamal Agnew (hip) has finished the season brilliantly so it’s been one of the less frustrating weapons for a team that’s suffered a lot of injuries this year. If you consider the injury to Adam Trautman (knee), there is currently less of a tight finish on the exemption. Arnold will still be involved and possibly back in the game against Atlanta this week. Expected FAAB bid: 10% of total FAAB budget

Cole Kmet (CHI). So “Cole Kmet Week” is a complete bust. Everything was there for the big day last week, and it didn’t happen. The running routes and the target are both trending up, but he only targets two. It wasn’t a great match on paper, but hopefully we see Kmet regress positively and he gets back to five or six goals. Proj. FAAB bid: 5-6%

Austin Hooper (CLE). If you’re scouring the relinquishment line looking for someone who can help you catch a few shots, then Hooper could be your guy. The cap is somewhat limited, but he has had at least six goals in four of his past five games. The problem with Hooper is that he hasn’t found an end zone all year, and it’s a hit-down dependent position. Baker Mayfield is clearly playing injured, and that hurts the air attacks in this offense. Proj. FAAB bid: 5%

Week 12 Fantasy Football FAAB Advice: Drop the line Defense pick up, stream

As we always caution, you shouldn’t spend more than one percent of your FAAB budget on a D/ST. Here are this week’s potential streaming picks:

  • Chicago Bears (@ Lions)
  • Philadelphia Eagles (@ Giants)
  • Seattle Seahawks (@ Washington)
  • Miami Dolphins (vs Panthers)
