Volkswagen Aero B 2023 is seen from the inside out
The Volkswagen AeroB The electric sedan has been spotted in Europe ahead of its production launch in 2023.
Although the level of external camouflage is similar to the prototype discovered in October 2011, this is the first time our spy photography agency has been able to get a good picture of the inside.
On the inside, the Aero B has a larger central touchscreen than what we’ve seen so far in MEB-based vehicles.
The report indicates that the mid-life upgrade for ID. 3, ID. 4 and others will see much deviated capacitive buttons replaced with more traditional ones.
Unfortunately, this update doesn’t look like it’ll make it in time for the Aero B’s next year launch, with the spokes on the steering wheel and the chin below the touchscreen housing a host of capacitive controls.
As with other IDs. models, the Aero B has a small electronic instrumentation display in front of the driver.
like I. buzzThe device screen rests on a shelf carved into the dashboard, the back of which is a blacked out section divided by a chrome bar and conceals the external vents.
Unlike electric cars, the Aero B’s dashboard will be curved, not flat.
Stepping back to the outside, the Aero B is a sedan with fastback styling and a short, stout trunk.
This prototype, like the one seen back in 2021, has been plastered with a series of camouflage stickers featuring the design of the headlights, taillights, grille and fog lights, all seemingly stolen. from Jetta.
From what we can see, the Aero B will indeed have slim, recessed headlights like the latest generation Golf.
Instead of the traditional grille, the upper bumper will be largely blank, except for the large Volkswagen badge and perhaps the LED strip that bridges between the headlights.
Along the sidewalls, the Aero B features wavy shoulder creases and window lines, as well as raised door handles for a snug fit. Unfortunately, the prototype’s Hoffmeister fold is just another cunning camouflage.
It’s hard to tell what the Aero B’s taillights will look like, but the chrome exhaust tips are all fake.
Revealed ID by Volkswagen. Space Vizzion in 2019, it is likely that the Aero B will also be offered as a track wagon.
If the Aero B wagon comes to life, it will be one of the first low-powered electric wagons available and could be more popular than sedans, at least in Europe.
If Volkswagen decides to stick with its ID. its purely electric vehicle naming scheme, the Aero B could be named ID. 7 when it started rolling down the production line.
Volkswagen has yet to reveal what powertrain it plans to offer with the Aero B, but we do know the car runs on the MEB architecture that underpins the ID. Buzz people move and valve, ID. 3 hatch, ID. 4, ID. 5 and ID. 6 crossovers, as well as Skoda Enyaq and Cupra was born.
In ID.4, single-engine rear-wheel drive models are rated anywhere between 109kW/220Nm and 150kW/310Nm, while dual-motor all-wheel drive vehicles are rated at 220kW.
The ID.4 is offered with either a 58kWh or 77kWh battery pack, with higher-spec models supporting DC fast charging up to 170kW.
One report from the end of 2020 says the Aero B will come with powertrain upgrades, including improved driving range and faster charging.
The top-of-the-line all-wheel drive Aero B GTX will have a 0-100 km/h time of around 5.6 seconds, while the single-engine model will need around 8.5 seconds to hit the century mark.
It is unclear if Volkswagen plans to launch the Aero B Down Under. Sales of sedans have fallen dramatically over the past decade, with Toyota Camry and Tesla Model 3 was the only sedan that sold in significant numbers.
