VOLLEYBALL RECEIVES AVCA TEAM ACADEMY AWARD; RANKS is in the top 20% nationally for GPA



Story of AVCA

SACRAMENTO – For the third year in a row, the Sacramento State volleyball team received the AVCA Team Academic Award, announced today by the Volleyball Coaches Association of America.

Additionally, the Hornets, who had an overall team GPA of 3.66 during the school year, received the Honor Roll. The Honor Board represents the top 20% of the team’s average score out of all the Units. I schools nationwide. Sacramento State is a member of the AVCA Honors for the first time.

The AVCA Team Academic Awards honor college volleyball teams that have demonstrated classroom excellence during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team GPA.

The Hornets’ team GPA of 3.66 is the second-highest of the 21 Sacramento State athletics programs. All eight of the team’s comebacks now have an overall GPA above 3.80.

Additionally, nine players on last season’s roster received Big Sky Conference all-around academic honors, the second-highest total for Sacramento State since joining the league in 1996.
