VW announces ID.4 price in 2023, details of new lower-cost variant



Automakers have yet to make their mark with affordable, compact electric vehicles in the United States, but a few models from major automakers are slowly appearing. The Chevy Bolt is a great vehicle, reasonably priced and Volkswagen ID.4 not far behind it. The German automaker has a significant presence in the US, and ID.4 is its first EV built on our land. Today, VW price announcement for model year 2023includes additional details about the new, smaller battery version.

Volkswagen will be building ID.4 in 2023 in the Chattanooga, TN, facility and going live New variant lower cost with a smaller the battery for the new model year. Powered by a 62 kilowatt-hour battery, the newly named ID.4 Standard offers a range of 208 miles and its single electric motor produces 201 hp. The ID.4 Pro is powered by an 82 kWh battery, which improves range by up to 255 miles, and is available with all-wheel drive thanks to a motor mounted on the front axle. All ID.4 models are now plug-and-charge capable at Electrify America stations, allowing riders to plug and charge without additional verification steps.

Despite being only two years old, Volkswagen has given the ID.4 2023 what it calls a “subtle but purposeful styling upgrade”. The two S versions now have the illuminated VW logo on the rear doors when equipped with the available premium lighting package. Three new wheel designs are available, with a new 20-inch design standard for the S variants.

The EV’s interior has also been refreshed, and Volkswagen says it’s now more upscale than before. ID.4 Standard models get new stitching and fabric seats with faux leather upholstery. Two color Available: stone with black/gray accents and nutmeg with brown accents.

All ID.4s now receive a 12 inch touch screen runs Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the technology front. Bluetooth, SiriusXM radio and USB inputs are also standard. Pricing for 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 starts at $38,790, including a $1,295 destination fee. The ID.4 Pro and S start at $43,790. The addition of four-wheel drive to the Pro pushes the price up another $3,800. ID.4 also qualifies for a $7,500 federal tax credit.
