WarnerMedia partners with a list of black beauties for hair, makeup on sets – The Hollywood Reporter
To raise awareness of the needs of makeup and hair professionals who know how to work with Black talent’s wide range of hair textures and skin tones, WarnerMedia has partnered with Black Beauty Roster to help production staff film and television production.
The BBR is both a database of black beauticians and a platform that provides training to all artists on how to work with textured hair and a wide range of skin tones, as well as providing provides industry guidance and support to past disadvantaged artists.
“As we continue to see more diverse talent in front of the camera, we have to make sure we are also diversifying behind the camera – especially with hair and makeup,” said BBR co-founder, Simone Tetteh said in a statement. “We’ve seen and heard too many hair and makeup horror stories on set from talent of color, and it’s time for us to change the way we tell them. We’re delighted that WarnerMedia wants to work with us to not only diversify the industry, but lead the way by changing it for the better. ”
