The Washington Commanders responded to their allegations of improper accounting.
Congress has been investigating the Commanders, as well as the NFL’s role in supporting the team, over allegations of sexual harassment. But last week, the government said it was focusing on allegations of improper financial accounting by the team.
On Saturday, we learned that one of the allegations was Commanders withhold ticket revenue from the NFL. Teams must split 40% of ticket sales collected from home matches with the league to be divided among the teams. Washington is accused of pocketing extra revenue, which equates to stealing from other teams and players.
In a statement released Monday, the Commanders vehemently denied the allegations.
