DULLES, Va. –
Authorities say a passenger in a vehicle driven by the Washington Soccer Team safety team, Deshazor Everett, was killed when the vehicle hit several trees and ran over him.
According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, the passenger – Olivia S. Peters, 29, of Las Vegas – died at the hospital following a collision Thursday night along the road near Aldie, Virginia.
Everett, 29, of Brambleton, Virginia, is being treated at the hospital for serious but not life-threatening injuries, according to a group statement.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who have been affected by this tragedy,” the team’s statement said. “Our team has notified the federation office and is working with local authorities as we continue to gather more information.”
The cause of the crash was still under investigation as of Friday. Sheriff’s office spokesman Kraig Troxell said.
Everett, the 2018 special team captain, is in his seventh season for Washington. He was included in the squad’s reserve/injury list.
Everett has two career interceptions. He’s played 14 games this year, done 5 solos and assisted 5 others.
“The only thing I want to say is that I am deeply saddened by this news,” Washington coach Ron Rivera said Friday. “My thoughts and prayers go to the young girl’s family and also to Deshazor and his family. It is a very difficult situation and we will let it go and let it be. the police and the investigation conducted a search. to find out what happened.”
