Waste Management has filed with Hinds Circuit Court to dismiss its complaint against the city of Jackson and Chokwe Mayor Antar Lumumba. The company filed a lawsuit in an attempt to force contract negotiations with the city because council members rejected Richard Disposal’s bid for services. Lumumba filed his own lawsuit last week against Jackson City Council. The mayor wants the judge to intervene after the council voted to block his emergency garbage collection contract with Richard’s Disposal. The mayor signed the emergency order last month. It earned Richard’s Disposal a one-year contract with the city.
