Lost first South Africa in Lucknow by nine runs, Team India faced with a must win situation in Second ODI in Ranchi on Sunday, October 9.
The men in blue were seen preparing hard on the net during preparations for the match. While the players were seen working hard during their training session, VVS coach Laxman and captain Shikhar Dhawan also let the team members talk to each other.
The official BCCI social media managers shared a clip of Team India’s preparations ahead of the secret ODI with the caption:
“Preps ✅ #TeamIndia prepares for the 2nd ODI against South Africa. #INDvSA. “
First bowling after winning the first match of the ODI series, India conceded 249 for four of 40 rounds (rain drops) against Proteas. Heinrich Klaasen (74 * off 65) and David Miller (75 * off 63) played excellent shots for South Africa.
The home side dropped to 51 out of four goals before Shreyas Iyer (50 lost 37), Sanju Samson (86 * 63) and Shardul Thakur (33 lost 31) led a head-to-head confrontation. In the end, however, India fell nine places behind South Africa’s total.
Team India suffered another injury against the ODI secod, with pacer Deepak Chahar ruled out for the remaining two games of the series. Chahar got a stiff back after his third T20I match against South Africa in Indore.
The 30-year-old also missed the opening of the ODI in Lucknow. Notably, the pacer is one of the reserves for the T20 World Cup 2022, which will take place in Australia from October 16 to November 13.
The Washington Sundar All-rounder has been named as Chahar’s replacement for the last two ODIs against Proteas. Due to many injury problems, Sundar has not played for India since February this year.
