Abbot’s Pandemic Defense Alliance is the first industry-led public-private effort to bring scientists around the world together to track current and emerging pathogens. The team is collecting virus samples from around the world, looking for mutations, and so far, they’ve managed to alert the world to several viruses that have swept the globe — including Gamma from one room experiments in Brazil and Omicron from a laboratory in South Africa.
