Waukesha crash: Jill Biden meets family, victims of Christmas parade

US First Lady Jill Biden met with victims of the crash of the Christmas parade in suburban Milwaukee, where six people were killed and dozens injured after an SUV plowed through a crowd.

Biden and second gentleman Doug Emhoff visited Children’s Hospital Wisconsin in Milwaukee, where they thanked frontline medical workers who treated victims of the Waukesha parade crash. They featured the Surgeon General of the United States, Dr. Vivek Murthy.

“Our country is so grateful to you. We have not forgotten you. We will not forget you. And you will remain in our minds and hearts as you continue to process, heal and grieve. “, Murthy said.

Biden met privately with the two injured children and their families at the hospital, the Journal Sentinel reported.

She also stressed the importance of a COVID-19 vaccine, urging parents to get their children vaccinated.

Biden, Emhoff and Murthy then headed to Waukesha, where Biden laid a bouquet of flowers at the Veterans Park crash memorial. They plan to also meet the families of the victims and first responders.

Darrell Brooks Jr allegedly drove his vehicle into a parade in Waukesha on Nov. 21. Witnesses said he hit the car and appeared to be hitting people on purpose.

Brooks’ attorneys have said their client is presumed innocent until “the government proves its charges beyond a reasonable doubt.”
