Awaken the environment: 2021 is an important time for investors, startups, and the general business population to wake up to climate change in a much bigger way. Some examples we discuss:
Trams and high-speed rail: The proliferation of electric vehicles on the road, and long-term planning for high-speed rail in the Cascadia Corridor do we have hope for the future of alternative forms of transport.
Cloud storage: This is not a new development, of course, but the ease of storing, synchronizing and backing up data in the cloud is one of the advancements that have become such an integral part of the lives we all live in. almost unrecognizable. For instance, something as simple as Microsoft OneDrive has made switching between PCs seamless.
Daily AR: In the same way, the small touches of augmented reality in the world around us have made life easier. An example: the instructions in the backup camera in a car make it much easier to back into the void.
The next generation of innovators: Lots of examples, the proof is Child enthusiast of the month series. However, prominent examples from the past year have been Seattle teen entrepreneurs Sage Khanuja and the building Nikolas Ioannou and sold their telemedicine startup in a successful exit earlier this year.
Commercial space tourism: Certainly, there are plenty of reasons to be skeptical about billionaires put themselves and a select few into low Earth orbit. But if this is an important step for a multi-planetary species, there’s also reason for optimism. At least, that’s one way of looking at it. We were divided on this issue.
MacKenzie and Melinda: We hope for the impact MacKenzie Scott and Melinda French Gates There will be philanthropists in their own right. For the purpose of bringing interesting news, we hope the ex-husband of Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates to cooperate even more than what they had, although it may be better for the world when they work independently.
